A New Theme Park Land Is Coming To The Universal Orlando Resort!

Yesterday demo permits were filed for a 5 acre area somewhere in the Universal Orlando Resort property.

Stated as Universal Project 555, this permit describes that demolition of 4.9 acres will be occurring and that will include all retail, show, and attraction buildings as well as an access roadway.

This site description matches up perfectly with the mostly abandoned Lost Continent area of Islands of Adventure. Lost Continent used to be a lot bigger before it was swallowed up in 2010 and again in 2019 by Harry Potter attractions. The Poseidon’s Fury show had its last run last year and all that’s remaining are various shops and the highly themed Mythos restaurant.

The 4.9 acres this permit describes covers everything in the land besides the Mythos restaurant which would likely be rethemed to the new IP that would come to the area. It’s worth noting also that Universal is planning to demolish everything in this area and not reuse a single building in the project area which gives them plenty of space to work with for a creative new idea. This map below created by Behind The Thrills shows the massive scope of this new project 555.

As for what could be coming to this area? Well no one knows but the leading rumors for this area right now are a land based on the Wicked movies and broadway show or a Legend of Zelda area.
