Universal recently sent out a survey to guests about the future of the park. This photo below sent to me by an anonymous source introduces the idea of a pass that is valid for three years.

The source told me that one of the follow up questions was “How likely would major IP expansion get you to buy a 3 year pass?”
This is very interesting because to my recollection a theme park has never offered a three year pass before. It is also very interesting that they seem to be teasing a major expansion to a popular IP as a way to get people to buy this new pass option if it comes to fruition.
As for what the teased IP could be is anyone’s guess but with the rumors of Pokemon taking over the Lost Continent area of Islands of Adventure and possibly Springfield here in Hollywood, maybe that is the IP that is being teased here.
The idea seems to be to get guests to buy a 3 year pass that would for example be valid from 2026-2029 and keep you locked in to the park for new expansions like Fast and Furious Hollywood Drift, the new hotel, the LA Olympics and a major new IP expansion.
The question notes this new pass would be offered at a discounted rate. Right now the platinum pass is about $619 online so that price times three is $1,857. Assuming the discount is let’s say 15% or so that would make this new pass a total of $1,579 with monthly payments of about $44 which is still cheaper than Disneylands Inspire Key.
Would you buy a three year pass to Universal Studios Hollywood if they introduced this option? Also what major IP expansion do you think they are teasing? Leave your thoughts in the comments below and join our discussion forums for more theme park fun!
