When Star Wars Galaxys Edge first opened in Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019 and 2020 respectively, many people were wondering where the iconic music was or even the original trilogy characters, well after seven years they are about to come to Battu in a big way!
Disney has announced that beginning on April 29th, 2026 major changes are coming to Galaxys Edge including the introduction of the original characters roaming the land. For the first time ever, the timeline will be dropped from the land allowing Star Wars characters from different timelines to be in the land.
The land will be separated into three different areas. Rey and the sequel characters will be hanging around the resistance base by the Rise of the Resistance attraction. Mando and grogu, Ashoka and Boba Fett will be hanging around the central marketplace of Battu. Lastly, Darth Vader, Leia Organa and Han Solo will be hanging around the Millenimum Falcon and town center area.

The biggest news of this announcement in my opinion is the incision of the iconic music from John Williams throughout the land. Disney specifically said they will have the main theme blasting through each entrance tunnel which has been a wish of mine since opening. Also they said they will the iconic cantina theme song playing at Ogas Cantina.
Even more changes are coming to the land on Memorial Day weekend when a new mission gets added to the Smugglers Run attraction. This new mission will take you to one of three iconic original trilogy locations and you will have grogu on board with you!
I am so happy that these changes are being made to Galaxys Edge as it’s something that many fans have been asking for, for years now. This plus the recently added projection shows and fireworks shows at night are really opening up the potential for this land. Here’s hoping we can get the once planned full service restaurant behind Ogas Cantina and a third attraction in the future.
Please note so far these updates will only apply to Battu in Disneyland and not Disney World.
