Many people have been wondering what is going on along the hillside at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Officially called the Mummy Wall in permits, this massive new retaining wall is doing multiple things. It is fortifying the hillside and allowing Universal to gain an extra acre of space down by the Lower Lot next to The Mummy.
Way back in November 2024, a Team Member email leaked saying that the Lower Lot transportation would be relocated due to the construction of a Utility Events Space.
Many were wondering what this events space could be or look like and I have been informed by multiple sources that this will be a new permanent structure for Halloween Horror Nights and Fan Fest Nights. It was described to me as something like the Sprung Tents that Orlando uses.
If this is the case then starting in 2026 I would expect the house that is always next to The Mummy to relocate into this building. I have no idea if this new structure will be done by Fan Fest Nights 2026 in Spring but I will be keeping my eye on it very closely.
The latest permits for this project were dubbed Mummy Wall Phase 2 and I’m not sure what Phase 2 of the project covers but we shall see if it includes the construction of a new building.
