Hello and happy Monday! Welcome to our second edition of our Universal Studios Hollywood Update and boy is it a doozy! We have a TON to talk about so let’s stop lallygagging and get right into it!
A New Citywalk Addition
As we reported last week, Johnny Rockets closed and there has been a replacement quickly announced. Mr. BBQ is coming to the former Johnny Rockets location. This is a Korean BBQ joint and we think it’ll be very popular.

They are working so quickly we wouldn’t be surprised if this location opened by the holidays. Here is a menu to see what they have at this Korean BBQ restaurant. This restaurant will fill a void in the restaurant lineup at Citywalk and we couldn’t be more excited.
Mysterious New Project
So we hopped on the studio tour to check out a mysterious new project that has appeared. This could be something pretty small and routine or early prep for something very big.

A wide range of trees have been red and orange tagged in the area. Red tags mean they are ready for trimming or removal and orange tags mean they are being protected or are under review. No permits have been filed for this area yet so we are assuming for now it is routine maintenance but we will certainly be watching this weekly.

This area POINT C marks the project boundary and this is by the Starway escalators so this is a very large project area. Stay tuned to this site because we will providing updates on this every week in our updates.
New Mill
The studio mill is being relocated to a new spot next to the Earthquake attraction and as of Saturday a surveying camera is on site so hopefully progress on this one picks up quickly. This may be the prelude to a Lower Lot expansion down the line.

Halloween Horror Nights
From the Studio Tour, we caught a peek at two unannounced Halloween Horror Nights houses. The recently announced Terrifer was not visible from the tour.
We did the houses that look like they could be Poltergeist and the Terror Tram which looks like it will be a return to Blumhouse and if so that’s fantastic because we loved that one last year!

Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift
Work continues at a rapid pace for the upcoming Fast & Furious coaster! This week we got a great look at the recently constructed sound walls and a fantastic look at the coaster car doing its pull through test. The car is over halfway through the track and by the end of the month should complete the pull through.

Mummy Wall/Events Space
The Mummy Wall is almost complete! Crews have reached the ground level and they just have a little bit of dirt to get out of there before they start to out the concrete for the wall itself. This project must be finished by September 2nd which is when Team Member previews start for Halloween Horror Nights. That explains why they can be seen working up to seven days a week recently on this massive infrastructure project. This new events space may yield a new permanent structure or spring tent for Fan Fest Nights and Halloween Horror Nights in the future.

Security Hubs Update
Over at the IFLY security hub not too much has changed from the last update.

Over at the Woody lot though, lots more progress can be seen. Concrete has been poured for all of the existing walls and there are still footers and rebar sticking out waiting for more vertical construction. The elevator hasn’t moved higher so far and we anticipate a second new elevator coming to the other side of the Jurassic Parking structure.
