Today the Bedford government approved a Special Development Order for the new Universal UK theme park! This grants them to start construction anytime on or after January 12th, 2026!
Universal has previously said they want to open the park in 2031, giving this park a five year construction timeline which was the same original timeline as Epic Universe.
According to a BBC article, sources close to them indicate that lands or attractions based on James Bond, Paddington, and Lord of The Rings are coming. We also know from the concept art that it seems like a Hill Valley land and Jurassic World area will be making their way to the park.
Universal and Warner Bros have been negotiating Harry Potter rights for the UK park and recently entered into negotiations for DC Comics theme parks rights to Universal Parks globally. That could mean lands based on DC Comics characters could make their way to Universal UK down the line as an expansion project.
The project is expected to provide 20,000 jobs and 50 billion euros to the economy. The project will open with the theme park, a citywalk type destination and a 500 room hotel as part of phase one.
