Updated permits reveal a change to the upcoming Harry Potter ride coming to Epic Universe at Universal Orlando.
A previous permit listed the building’s total square footage at 150,000 square feet and one story. After going under review, the permit is now listed with a building square footage of 95,548 and two stories.
No further details were revealed or revised from the permit, but this is pretty big news as adding a story to the building could mean the ride system completely changed. Universal has only ever acknowledged this expansion by saying that more magic is coming to the Wizarding World but nothing more.
Previous rumors had this attraction themed to flying on a broomstick on some sort of dark ride or indoor roller coaster. It is hard to tell what ride system this could be from the change in the building size. A roller coaster is still possible as the building is now taller, but a dark ride is just as possible if the second story is usable space aka transformers style.
Whatever the ride may be, it can’t come soon enough as Epic Universe needs all the indoor attractions it could get and luckily another new indoor ride is coming to Dark Universe in a 71,500 square foot building and that project I’m hearing has construction trailers out front and ready to go!
