Demolition is continuing at a very quick pace on the former Lost Continent land at Islands of Adventure.
The Sinbad theater is completely gone with Poseidon’s Fury right behind it. Thunder Falls in Jurassic Park just closed for a refurb into a signature dining table service restaurant to replace Mythos in 2027. With crews making quick work of Lost Continent it’s no wonder we may have some early clues as to what’s next for the area.
Rumors have been swirling that Pokemon will be coming here next and the rumored ride system for one of the attractions is an omnimover ride. A new notice of commencement filed today by Universal may give more credence to those rumors.
This new permit filed by Universal lists the contractor as Garmendale Engineering. This permit is for Equipment Install and expires March 2027.
While we don’t know exactly what this permit is for, the expiration date of 2027 leads me to believe it may have to do with Lost Continent as no other major project is going on at the park that lasts that long.
It is worth noting that this company also does airlock gates and they have done the gates for Velicocoaster so this permit could just as simply be new gates for that coaster.
They also do dark rides and a certain ride looks like it could be perfect for pokemon snap.
As previously mentioned this contractor is from the UK and the paddington ride at Universal UK is also rumored to be an omnimover so if true it’s possible Universal got a 2 for 1 special on this ride system.
