Well with the long holiday weekend now over it is time to say goodbye to Tom Sawyers Island and the Rivers of America at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

After 50 plus years the Magic Kingdom is going through a massive transformation and adding four new attractions in the space currently occupied by the Rivers of America. These will comprise of two lands, a Cars themed land and a Villains land.

Piston Peak is what is replacing the majority of the Rivers and the island and will have two attractions. One of them will be a large E ticket racing attraction similar to Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure. The second will be a smaller attraction for the younger kiddos.

The second land coming to this area is Villains Land. This area will have two major attractions including a roller coaster and possible dark ride.

While it is sad to see the river go, it is also exciting to see the possibilities of the future with two new lands and four new rides. Wait times for the Liberty Belle hovered around 10-20 min for its final day of operation which is a stark contrast to the four hour waits Splash Mountain encountered on its last day.

Work has already commenced on the new lands and it’s great they are wasting no time getting to work so these new lands can open up as soon as possible.

What are your thoughts on losing the island and the river and your thoughts on the replacements? Leave a comment down below and please be civil in your responses to other comments.
