Today’s update has a theme and that is walls! From construction walls to sound walls there are a lot of walls around this small park at the moment so let’s get started with the first set of walls…
Security Hub Check In
Over at the woody woodpecker lot the central security hub is moving rapidly with more concrete poured. Hopefully we can get to the next phase of this quickly so we can finally see what this is going to look like.
Another Closure In Citywalk
Johnny Rockets closed its doors last week and Universal quickly started to take down the associated theming and signage. That large neon hamburger is no more at Citywalk.
There is a sign on the now closed restaurant that says “New Venue Coming Soon” but I am not so sure about that.
I have a theory that some or all of that structure will be demoed to widen the walkway because that is the area where in 2026 a ton of people will be filtering through from the new new security hub. Of course there is a chance for a hybrid option will some of the building gets demoed and a new venue goes in the smaller space.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift
Our next walls are the sound walls being constructed on the Fast and Furious rollercoaster.
Tons of new steel for the sound walls has went up over the past week and they seem to be testing the material that will fill in the sound walls.
I’m curious if the whole thing will be that image of trees and if that itself is the final image. If it is, I will wait to have a final judgement until it is fully complete but I’m a little nervous for the final outcome based on what I have seen so far.
Mummy Wall Update
Over at the mummy wall we have so much progress that it’s almost complete!
Since our last check in they installed more steel beams and have taken down the temporary steel beams holding up the small green wall at the bottom. That signals to me that this week that small green wall will be gone. After that they will clear out the small pile of dirt on the hillside that is left to go then our the concrete for the wall itself! I’d expect this to wrap up by August so they can set up the Halloween Horror Nights queue for its September opening.
