Fast And Furious Hollywood Drift At Universal Studios Hollywood Could Be Delayed Until End Of The Year. Could It Even Be Delayed Until 2027?

UPDATE: A Universal spokesperson said the coaster is still on track to open Summer 2026 but as you’ll see in this article I’ve heard that could slip to later this year or early next year.

I recently wrote an article about the latest delay which I’ve heard is when a spoiler fell off one of the ride vehicles causing them to stop testing for 14 days and counting. Yesterday I heard some more unfortunate news for the coaster.

According to info I gathered from multiple sources some trains are being sent to the manufacturing facility in Santa Clarita to get worked on because of the excessive wear and tear that this ride is causing to the track already. Just in the short amount of testing time I was told that it looks like the track has been in “2-3 years of wear and tear” which is not good long term.

Work crews are rapidly trying to fix the issue but I even heard they may need to bring back some heavy machinery to hell resolve whatever is going on. The problem is heavy machinery can take months to rent out which could cause this delay to spill into 2027 if they end up needing that machinery.

According to FOX LA, Universal has officially delayed the coaster until the end of the year due to severe noise complaints from the Toluca Lake residents. While that is true and certainly a factor, these more severe issues are likely what’s causing the massive months long delay until at least the end of the year.

Trains have been spotted going between the load station and maintence bay and each time the middle two cars have been covered up for some reason. It is not known when they’ll start testing again but as mentioned above it’s been two weeks of silence.

Lastly, Universal has been selling Halloween Horror Nights Express tickets that include “limited access” to Fast and Furious Hollywood Drift , but now those tickets will not include access. No word on if universal will issue refunds or not for anyone that bought that ticket hoping to ride the new coaster.

Now while this article may seem doom and gloom, there is good news on the horizon! First when they solve these issues this coaster will be running for decades to come and most people will forget this long process. Secondly new rumors for what’s next at the park are starting to sprout and it may make some people very happy, but I’ll get to that in a future article!

As always stay tuned to this website for more updates regarding this fluid situation.
